Perilous times are here. 2 Timothy 3
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. v 1
Perilous times are upon us. Though danger has not manifested in all flesh,
the times are upon us.
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, v 2
This we can see now as those who are in the world, those who love the world, have no desire to worship God, but rather themselves. Even some in the church boast of themselves and choose not to glorify the Lord Jesus our Savior.
Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, v3
There is no way to change the word of God. We can not like it, but we cannot change it. We must love the truth. We must tell the truth when we are given the opportunity to do so.
Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; v 4
We see this every day, all day. Those who choose to do their own thing without regard for God and His ways. Are we amongst them?
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. v 5
When Jesus said to those who told Him of all their wonderful works that they had done in His name, He said, Depart from Me! I never knew you!
Not every one that saith unto Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in heaven.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Thy name? and in Thy name have cast out devils? and in Thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from Me,
ye that work iniquity. Matthew 7:21-23
For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, v 6
These silly women are representative, not the only ones who get led away. They are persons who are gullible and not steadfast in the truth and in the Lord, whose weaknesses are gain for the wicked one and his ways, and who will lead others astray as well.
Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. v 7
That is because they did not choose to love the truth. They have chosen another path, another way, another Christ, perhaps man’s doctrine.
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish;
because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2 Thessalonians 2:10
Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth:
men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. v 8
Let us not ever resist the truth. We must put our thoughts below God’s always, and in everything. The second we put our thoughts above God, we are in spiritual danger.
