The Ark of the Covenant represented God
Which had the golden censer,
and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold,
wherein was the golden pot that had manna,
and Aaron’s rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant; Hebrews 9:4
And David danced before the Lord with all his might;
and David was girded with a linen ephod.
So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord
with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.
And as the ark of the Lord came into the city of David,
Michal Saul’s daughter looked through a window,
and saw king David leaping and dancing before the Lord;
and she despised him in her heart. 2 Samuel 6:14-16
And then Michal reprimanded her husband, King David:
Then David returned to bless his household.
And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said,
How glorious was the king of Israel to day,
who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants,
as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!
And David said unto Michal, It was before the Lord,
which chose me before thy father, and before all his house,
to appoint me ruler over the people of the Lord,
over Israel: therefore will I play before the Lord.
And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight:
and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of,
of them shall I be had in honour. 2 Samuel 6:20-22
Michal despised King David in her heart.
God saw that.
Scripture records that.
David did not know how she felt until she told him.
David honored God.
She wrongly judged David’s heart.
Humans cannot see inside others’ hearts.
It’s impossible.
We can know what they are thinking when they speak words,
as scripture says from the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaketh,
but we still cannot judge thoughts or intentions.
We do not have that capability.
David was not pleased with her, nor was the Lord pleased with her:
Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul
had no child unto the day of her death. 2 Samuel 6:23
Michal did not celebrate the Ark of Covenant.
Instead, she filled her heart with hate
for what she considered undignified behavior
while David was worshiping the Lord.
What we think or feel cannot be hidden from God.
If He shows you something wretched in your heart, don’t try to justify it,
bring it before Jesus so He can cleanse it
and teach you how He sees the situation.
He that heareth you heareth Me;
and he that despiseth you despiseth Me;
and he that despiseth Me despiseth him that sent Me. Luke 10:16
Jesus is our modern-day Ark of the Covenant.
He is a great treasure we celebrate and worship.
We receive Him as we receive God who sent Jesus to us as our Mediator,
the fulfillment of God’s promise to us.
Our Great Treasure, our reason for living. Jesus our King.
