Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that
a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? 1 Corinthians 5:6
Just like a rotten apple that spoils the bunch,
one little, tiny mistruth can defile the whole lesson.
A mistruth can defile the gospel.
Keep the word of God pure.
Don’t change it, don’t add to it.
Man’s teaching does get tricky.
They say things, they teach things.
Some are not careful.
When we are taught things, we need to be actively listening.
and wisdom tells us to be actively seeking the Lord for understanding.
Some bible teachers encourage you to seek the Lord for yourself.
Do it.
Some do not. They want to be your source of God, Jesus and all things holy.
If a bible teacher teaches that their understanding of scripture
is the only way, do not put much weight into what they say.
Then understood they how that He bade them not
beware of the leaven of bread,
but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. Matthew 16:12
If we just sit back and get spoon-fed, we are lazy in the things of God.
Our relationship with Jesus should be active, alive, seeking Him,
learning of Him, getting to know Him and how He thinks,
trying to understand how He feels about things.
No matter how good the teaching is,
second-hand teaching should be taken to the Lord in humility and prayer.
Pray, Jesus said: Give us this day our daily bread. Matthew 6:11
Day old manna can breed worms and become foul or useless.
Drink water from your own cistern.
He will say to some, ‘I never knew you.’
Don’t allow yourself to be in that position.
Get to know Jesus now, while you’re here on Earth.
Knock, ask and seek Him.
He will respond to you.
Learning from others is good,
but always check with the Lord and His word on what they teach.
Never blindly follow any man or any doctrine.
Even if you think they are the most amazing bible teacher
and you buy into most of it, always take what you learn to the Lord in prayer.
Jesus is right there with you,
you can ask Him to give you discernment while you are learning.
Exercise your senses to learn from the Holy Spirit.
He will lead you and guide you into all truth.
