Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us,
because he hath given us of his Spirit. 1 John 4:13
I have a rescue dog
He was my neighbor’s dog and he made his way into my heart
We developed a special relationship
I walked Mac faithfully every day and we became very bonded
He now lives with me
My neighbor never loved him the same way a dog is meant to be loved
She cared for him and was good to him, but thought we were a better fit
She was right, Mac and I had a connection
His life before his previous owner died was filled with neglect
She loved the bottle and died because of it
When Mac first got here, he was a bit unsure
He knew this was my home, but wasn’t sure it was his home,
wasn’t sure that he could be completely comfortable, completely at home
It has taken some time
Slowly, he is trusting me more
It is delightful to see
He is letting his guard down
Similar, I suppose, to how we are with Jesus
We know we are in His kingdom,
but it takes a while to let that really sink in,
to learn His ways so that we can be truly comfortable with Him
It is dependent on many factors such as knowing Him more
and spending time with Him, we all must make our own way,
develop our own relationship with Him to truly find that place
that we know where we are truly welcomed, truly accepted into His love
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear;
but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
