God is not interested in the outward appearance.
Some people seem to have everything all together.
Without God, none of our lives are together.
With Him, we stand righteous before Him.
Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven;
for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.
Luke 7:47
If you were to see my life and all my faults, you may find me unworthy.
It is true, I am unworthy.
Jesus reached down and picked me up from the mire and cleaned me
and healed me and let me follow Him.
Sometimes, I find myself comparing my life to others.
Some people’s lives are in a nice, pretty package.
On the outside, they are perfect in their personalities, few or no flaws,
they are perfect in their intentions, they seem to always have good intentions,
nothing bad ever comes out of their mouths
and their lives seem perfect in every way.
Why would God choose me?
We should never compare ourselves to others.
God looks on the heart.
Even Samuel, a prophet, might have chosen any of David’s other brothers
when the Lord told him He wanted Samuel to anoint one of Jesse’s sons as King.
That was when the Lord spoke these words to Samuel:
But the Lord said unto Samuel,
Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature;
because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth;
for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.
1 Samuel 16:7
Was David perfect?
Not by a long shot. David had many flaws and faults
and he would be the first to admit them.
God saw David’s heart.
So, when you are bothered by yourself, your faults, your misgivings,
your imperfections, don’t beat yourself up.
Let God forgive you and accept His forgiveness and accept His strength
to carry on, to march forward, following the Messiah, Jesus the Christ.
