A Psalm of Reflection

When I arise, there You are
Always listening, ever present
When I cry out to You, You are near
As I seek You, I find You
My sweet Jesus
Always forgiving, always looking for the good
No matter how many times I fail You, You seem to forget
You never bring them up again even though the enemy does
If I ask You about them,
You show me there is no such thing written in Your book
Washed clean, white as snow
No matter how many times I fail You, You always forgive
70×7
Move along, You instruct, keep following, bearing your cross
Nothing can separate me from Your love,
not even my mistakes when they are laid at Your altar
Your mercies are always new
You wish for me to follow Your example
And forgive others’ misgivings
Close behind I follow, though not as quick, not as merciful, not as loving
Remembering Your grace, the grace that You have given me
The love that You have demonstrated, let me also share with others
and be as kind as I can allow in this wretched fleshly mind and body
I desire to be Holy and righteous in your sight, set apart for You,
proclaiming Your word and Your goodness
to bless others with Your presence, trying to stay out of the way,
to show others how good and awesome and beautiful You are, Lord Jesus Hoping to spark within them a desire to follow You
Somehow let Your life shine in me that they might desire You
Keep me pure when I am proclaiming Your word,
while I am telling of Your wondrous works
and how You have reached out to them
Let them not be distracted by my flaws
Stir up the truth that is within them
so the seeds that have been sown can bear fruit
Show them the next step they need to take towards You
Let them not focus on me, but on You, my Savior and King
