If you’ve ever seen a video of a snake catching its prey,
the first step is to stalk it,
then to catch it by surprise,
when the prey is unaware
Then, the snake grabs hold
and coils its slithery self around its victim
Then render the prey useless,
unable to fight or even move
And depending on the snake and its size,
means eventual death for the captured prey
Satan is called a serpent in the Book of Genesis
His actions were just like a snake in the Garden
His tactics haven’t changed
Yet still, we can be surprised
Or caught off guard
Because his ways are tried and sure
The Word of God gives us many warnings
on how we can become Satan’s prey
It would be impossible to name them all
the most effective way is
while you’re reading God’s word
is to take note of what He tells us
but here are a few of the protections He offers to us
to keep us from falling into temptation:
Love the truth (2 Thessalonians 2:10)
Forgive others as I have forgiven you (Luke 6:37)
Take up your cross daily and follow Me (Luke 9:23)
Fear the Lord (Proverbs 3:7)
Love one another and so fulfill the Law of Christ (Romans 13:8)
Repent (Luke 5:32)
Be cleansed (1 John 1:7)
Having on the full armor of God (What is the Full Armor of God?)
There is no fear in love;
but perfect love casteth out fear:
because fear hath torment.
He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
1 John 4:18
The only way Adam and Eve were released from Satan’s grip
was by intervention of the Lord God Almighty
It seems prey who have found themselves in the vice grip of a snake
need a rescuer or they will die
What happened to Adam and Eve is much deeper
than what we think of
it almost seems as a fable
it has been told and retold
the main point is that the serpent beguiled Eve,
then Adam and Eve were separated them from God
which was the ultimate goal that Satan wanted to accomplish
The shedding of blood, which contained life
was the token of redemption between God and man
And the Lord God said unto the woman,
What is this that thou hast done?
And the woman said,
The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
Genesis 3:13
This act did not take God by surprise
He was wise to the serpent’s tactics
and God knew how they would respond,
how they both would fall into Satan’s vice
God had a plan already set up for them
to remedy the lost relationship
and the spiritual separation that occurred
They all three got reprimanded by God
I like Satan’s curse the most:
And the Lord God said unto the serpent,
Because thou hast done this,
thou art cursed above all cattle,
and above every beast of the field;
upon thy belly shalt thou go,
and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life.
To not be beguiled and enticed by the Serpent
is a lesson and to realize that if we fall prey to his tactics,
separation from God is the result
and Jesus is the remedy
Neither by the blood of goats and calves,
but by his own blood
he entered in once into the holy place,
having obtained eternal redemption for us.
Hebrews 9:12
The most important thing is
to remember that even though we may
get deceived or beguiled,
God has the remedy
He wants us to be reconciled to Himself
and will show us the way
that we can be clothed in righteousness
and continue to walk with Him
And, having made peace through the blood of his cross,
by him to reconcile all things unto himself;
by him, I say, whether they be things in earth,
or things in heaven. Colossians 1:20
And all things are of God,
who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ,
and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
2 Corinthians 5:18
So we should do our best not to be tricked by evil
and if we are, we can look to God for the remedy
Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior
Who has given us every tool needed
to walk successfully with Our Lord, even if we fall
