I just looked up an old friend, a strong Christian the last I heard
His twitter bio boasted about his turning to Atheism
and debunking Christianity
He had written and published a book against Christianity
Reading further, he got brain cancer
Then, reading further, he died in 2017
I thought at first, maybe I could reach out to him as a Christian,
maybe help him rethink some of his new found theories
Maybe someone did
I’m sure someone did
He was quite popular in his life, in his church, with his family
So, now, unless he, on his death bed returned to the Lord,
has made himself another bed, an eternal bed of flames of fire
I have seen a few turn from the Lord, refuse to follow Him any longer
Those who have chosen to follow another way, another road, another god
after they had tasted of the Lord and the age to come
For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened,
and have tasted of the heavenly gift,
and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
And have tasted the good word of God,
and the powers of the world to come,
If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance;
seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh,
and put him to an open shame.
For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it,
and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed,
receiveth blessing from God:
But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected,
and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned. Hebrews 6:4-8
Until this world is wiped from my memory,
I will be saddened when I think of this guy
We cannot walk another’s path for them
Each person has to make their own decision
Each person has to decide, whether they accept Jesus as God,
and choose to walk on the path to follow Him
Lost humility
Lost treasure
Chosen the logic of man
Allowed deception to creep in
We cannot change the things that people decide to do
While God knows the beginning from the end, He is not mocked
Be not deceived; God is not mocked:
for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Galatians 6:7
This man not only decided to leave the faith
but tried to convince others to do the same
But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in Me,
it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
Woe unto the world because of offences!
for it must needs be that offences come;
but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh! Matthew 18:6-7
Whether a person is a real child or a person with childlike faith,
to encourage others not to follow the Lord is going to enrage God
This man’s life is a picture of what can happen to any of us
if we refuse to remain humble before the Lord
and rely on our own human logic
Thank you, God for keeping us close to You,
and reminding us that our lofty thoughts can cause pride to form.
That same pride that caused Lucifer to fall from his position.
