So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Romans 10:17
People like to take scriptures and claim them
If God has not given you the scriptures,
you cannot use them with the power of the Holy Spirit
We cannot just take any scripture in the Bible and use it how we want
Without the power of the Holy Spirit,
without knowing the Lord has given those to us,
we will be assuming and presuming
and trying to conjure up faith by the flesh, which is impossible to do
If you hear a scripture, and you want that to be for you,
if The Holy Spirit does not open it up to you, don’t assume
Jesus says My sheep know My voice,
so if He is giving you a promise,
then you can rest in faith,
knowing He will bring it to pass
We all need to hear from God ourselves
My sheep know my voice
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow Me: John 10:27
The time is now that we need to hear from God ourselves,
that we listen and do not seek our answers to come from a human,
a preacher, a writer, a priest, a popular bible teacher
We all need to cultivate our own relationship with Christ
and not rely on any other humans
to give us the answers we should be asking God for
That does not mean it is bad to listen to preachers,
but if we are not going to the source ourselves,
that source being Christ, the Living Water, we will be in danger
But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst;
but the water that I shall give him shall be in him
a well of water springing up into everlasting life. John 4:14
We all need to have a personal relationship with God ourselves
Drink waters out of thine own cistern,
and running waters out of thine own well. Proverbs 5:15
We all need to be hearing what the Lord is trying to teach us,
each of us, because what Jesus is teaching your friend or your neighbor
is not usually the same thing that He is trying to teach you
We are all at such different places in our walks with Him
and have such different circumstances
This is why man’s doctrine is not fresh
We need to get our daily bread from the Lord, from Him for us,
not stale bread from someone else
Good teaching is fine
Pure teaching is better
Pure teaching by the Holy Spirit that is individualized for each of us
Remember when David went up against Goliath? 1 Samuel 17
All the other men were petrified
David knew the Lord would deliver him and let him kill the Philistine
If David had gone with the word that all the other men had believed,
the story would not have ended that way
That is why it is crucial to hear from God yourself
Otherwise, you may hear from Him, I never knew you, depart from Me
Not every one that saith unto me,
Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven;
but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Many will say to me in that day,
Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name?
and in thy name have cast out devils?
and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them,
I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Matthew 7:21-23
