Are You Drunk on Violence?

The world is in turmoil
Not just in the USA,
but in many places
It is a sickness.
Rage is like fire
Are you caught in its craze?
Burning through life, to destroy
Where is your heart?
What is your meaning?
Your purpose in life?
Do you laugh at destruction?
Do you rub your hands together with glee to see others in pain?
Be careful
Your soul is in danger
For hatred is the same as murder in God’s eyes
Do not let your love grow cold
Do not wish evil upon others
Love your enemies
Wish them well
and love your neighbor as yourself
For sin knocks at your door
Do not let it in
Keep it out with God’s strength
Choose grace and forgiveness
Learn to exercise kindness and love
Wish for their best
For if you wish evil upon others,
that will be your fate lest you repent
God will repay you your wicked heart
Nothing gets by Him,
Not a move toward demise, a wish, a thought
and certainly not an action or deed
Hell and destruction are at the door
Do not think you will escape
If you choose to run with the wolves, the devourers,
you yourself will be devoured and destroyed
Repent while you can still hear, see and smell
Are you aware of the putrid stench and rotting flesh you are gorging in?
Ugly, rotten lust for violence.
Repent and let God turn your heart toward Him and His ways
Jesus said if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off
Yes, a tough metaphor of those who engage in sin
Cut it from you, in other words, stay away,
keep yourself pure and clean and righteous
For once hatred gets ahold of you,
it is a vice that will not let go easily
Turn to God and let Him cleanse your heart
Blessed are the peacemakers
For they shall be called the children of God
