Are You Like the Widow?

The widow who gave two insignificant coins was honored by Jesus
She gave all that she had
Jesus noticed her
Giving our all to Jesus is significant

And Jesus sat over against the treasury,
and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury:
and many that were rich cast in much.
And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites,
which make a farthing.
And He called unto Him his disciples, and saith unto them,
Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in,
than all they which have cast into the treasury:
For all they did cast in of their abundance;
but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

Mark 12:41-44

God is always looking at our hearts
We measure ourselves by our efforts and pat ourselves on our backs
But God sees our hearts
He cuts to the chase
If we allow Him, He will reveal our hearts to ourselves
We may not like what He shows us
He is always looking for our all
He is never satisfied with less
He is also not impressed with our fleshly efforts to be holy

I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot:
I would thou wert cold or hot.
So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot,
I will spue thee out of My mouth.
Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods,
and have need of nothing;
and knowest not that thou art wretched,
and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed,
and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear;
and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Revelation 3:15-19

Jesus is looking for us to follow Him whole-heartedly,
not giving Him our leftovers, but our best, our first fruits of our time,
of our lives, of our money, of ourselves
Any less is not going to please Him
That’s how David pleased Him
That is how Abraham pleased Him
That is how Job pleased Him
And King Josiah
And Daniel
Pleasing God is not what we think of what might please us if we were God
Our responsibility is to find out what pleases God
and do our best to walk in ways that will demonstrate that we belong to Him

Learn of Jesus and what He finds acceptable
lest you be found naked before His throne
The Holy Spirit will lead you into all truth
Seek God’s face to be able to understand His ways,
what He appreciates and what He doesn’t

Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die:
for I have not found thy works perfect before God.
Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard,
and hold fast, and repent.
If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief,
and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee
. Revelation 3:2-3
He said strengthen the things which shall remain, that are ready to die
Their works were not found perfect before God
Our works can never be perfect before God on our own
If we are using our own fleshly efforts, we will never please God

He that loveth father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me:
and he that loveth son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.
Matthew 10:37

Jesus wants our all
