Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour,
wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing,
but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Matthew 5:13
Not enough salt is not a good thing, neither is too much salt
Just the right amount is best
Too much salt would be doing things in our own strength, in the flesh
The right amount would be following Christ’s example
of not doing or saying anything that God didn’t show you to do or say
Lot’s wife was a perfect example of being off balance with salt,
She became a pillar of salt because she loved the world
Season with just enough salt to make the flavor of the gospel stand out
Don’t push it, use sparingly and let the Lord do the drawing
And every oblation of thy meat offering shalt thou season with salt;
neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God
to be lacking from thy meat offering:
with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt. Leviticus 2:13
In the Old Testament, there was a covenant of salt
which was a very important covenant,
One Covenant that God made with David included God’s own Son,
Jesus Christ was a part of the Covenant of Salt God made with King David
Ought ye not to know that the Lord God of Israel
gave the kingdom over Israel to David for ever,
even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt? 2 Chronicles 13:5
The Covenant of Salt is still spoken of today
It represents Loyalty and Honesty
