Be Like God’s Servant, Job

And it was so, that after the Lord had spoken these words unto Job, the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite,
My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends:
for ye have not spoken of Me the thing that is right, as My servant Job hath.
Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams,
and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering;
and My servant Job shall pray for you:
for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly,
in that ye have not spoken of Me the thing which is right,
like my servant Job
. Job 42:7-8

Job was humble
Job took his lumps
He didn’t argue with God about his circumstances
Job got it from all angles, first he lost his children,
then, even his wife, was not supportive
And then his friends, who came to comfort him, did so at first,
but then joined forces with Satan to accuse him and did not comfort him,
but instead tried to correct him when Job had done nothing wrong

God was not pleased with anyone in the story except Job

The friends said some things that were right, mixed in amongst the wrong
They were mainly leaning on their own understanding
They started out with the right intentions
They all came and spent several days with him, quietly grieving with him
That didn’t last long, pretty soon, they were putting their twist
and using the logic of mortals of why Job had suffered such loss,
and how Job must’ve done this or that wrong
so that he was responsible for his own demise
I have even heard sermons that Job was afraid
and that is why all of the catastrophic things came upon him
God was pretty clear about Job
God was pleased with Job,
God allowed us to see His choice to allow Job to be tried
and we also saw that God replenished him in the end
Pretty sure God would’ve put those preachers into the friend group
rather than the Job group

These things I have spoken unto you, that in Me ye might have peace.
In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer;
I have overcome the world.
John 16:33

Jesus mentioned many times that we would suffer
Sometimes it is for something we have done wrong, other times not
God is the one who knows that
Sometimes He shares that with us so we can learn
other times, things will happen to someone or to someone close to us that makes us wonder why God allowed that or if He really cares
Jesus does care but we cannot always understand why things happen
that is when we continue to allow Him to be God in our hearts
and humble ourselves
instead of trying to figure things out in our human logic
Job pleased God
He did not kick against the pricks.
And he said, Who art thou, Lord?
And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest:
it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks
. Acts 9:5
Humbling ourselves is sometimes difficult,
letting God be God and not trying to figure out why things happen to us
Our lives are in His hands
Jesus knows what He is doing and He will see us through

And His disciples asked Him, saying,
Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents:
but that the works of God should be made manifest in him
. John 9:2-3
