These things I have spoken unto you,
that in me ye might have peace.
In the world ye shall have tribulation:
but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33
If you read all of John 16, you will see Jesus is trying to prepare the disciples
Not only His disciples, but also, those of us who will later
read His words to them and be comforted
and warned about what is soon coming
We are told of the Holy Spirit who will comfort us:
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away:
for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you;
but if I depart, I will send him unto you. John 16:7
We are warned of persecution even unto death:
They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh,
that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. John 16:2
Jesus knows what is coming
He has warned us and prepared us and also let us know of the Holy Spirit
who will comfort us and who reveal things unto us that we must face
He said, I have overcome the world
All things that can come at you,
all the things that the enemy can throw at you,
all the trials, difficulties, and attacks, Jesus has overcome them
He has gone before you to prepare your way to obey the Father
He will not leave us comfortless
