Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation:
the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Matthew 26:41
We have to watch and pray for many reasons.
Jesus said that and then said, so we enter not into temptation.
Temptation comes in all forms.
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion,
walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1 Peter 5:8
We are in a battle on every side.
We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed;
we are perplexed, but not in despair;
Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9
The war of the flesh and the spirit.
The war of good and evil, darkness and light.
The war of truth verses deception.
Every which way, we are battling.
That is why we are told to keep our focus on Jesus.
Also I will make him My firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth.
Psalm 89:27
Keep your focus on Jesus.
Jesus said, Follow Me.
He did not say to follow man’s doctrine, trends, good ideas or political ideologies,
He said, Follow Me.
Jesus is His word, so learn His word
and let it permeate your innermost being.
Scriptural References:
This is referring to Jesus:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by Him;
and without Him was not any thing made that was made.
In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
John 1:1-5
And He is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning,
the firstborn from the dead; that in all things He might have the preeminence.
