Wherefore come out from among them,
and be ye separate, saith the Lord,
and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 2 Corinthians 6:17
We are not to mingle with the world
Be in the world but not of the world
I pray not that Thou shouldest take them out of the world,
but that Thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. John 17:15-16
In other words, we have to be here amongst the people, amongst the evil,
Jesus said, “I pray not that Thou shouldest take them out of the world,
but that Thou shouldest keep them from the evil.”
We have to be separate
That is our responsibility, not to get entangled in the world
When temptations come along, even if they seem harmless,
if they are of the evil one, if we participate in them,
they become our choice, putting ourselves in spiritual compromise
Touching evil can be very dangerous to our spirits as evil can creep in
Participating in evil, even in fun, is seriously risky,
and is not pleasing to God and may open up doors for the evil one
We are in a constant spiritual battle
choosing what is good and holy and righteous before God will keep us clean
Choosing what is not clean will taint us until we can repent and be cleansed
Much better to never touch it in the first place
If you know something offends God
and you need strength or wisdom in how not to participate,
such as an activity at work or with family or friends
that you know would offend Him,
Ask God to help you
He will
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God,
that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not;
and it shall be given him. James 1:5
