“He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.” Proverbs 16:32
I wish I could say I were good at these two:
Being slow to anger and ruling my spirit
I’m better than I was
That I can say
I feel like, with God’s help, I have made some gains in curtailing the flesh
and its ugliness
It seems I have so much farther to go
I’m really trying to let the scriptures sink in,
even become a part of me,
where Jesus said He did nothing but what He saw the Father do
and said nothing but what He heard the Father say
Just trying my best to be sensitive to His leading
Staying close to Him, concentrating on His word
As one Psalm rebukes the wicked because God is not in all of his thoughts
Not getting sucked into the flesh in thinking and deeds
If only…
Not there yet
Not sure I ever will be
I can fall back on the scripture where Paul said, that which I hate I do
Sort of an out God gave us
to remind us that though we try,
we still will never be perfect
Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try
Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith
He goes before us and is our rearguard
He is beside us and even lives inside of us
On Judgment Day, if we can bring ourselves to think about that,
we all long to hear,
“Well done thou good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of thy master.”
Commit thy way unto the Lord, trust also in Him and He shall bring it to pass
Letting Him have free reign in our lives
will bring us closer to that place we all want to be
And that place cannot be attained without His grace and strength
and us allowing Jesus, with our permission,
to do the hard work of putting the flesh in us to death
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7&8

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
