Being pliable in the hands of Jesus.
That sounds easy enough.
Making the choice to follow Him.
And, then, actually letting Him take the helm, maybe not so easy at times.
Jesus has been doing this for a long time, with many people.
He is very tenderhearted toward us,
that does not mean He is going to do things the way we want.
While He made us, there are times when we are marred,
like the vessel in Jeremiah, and He has to remold us.
Then I went down to the potter’s house, and, behold,
he wrought a work on the wheels.
And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter:
so he made it again another vessel,
as seemed good to the potter to make it. Jeremiah 18:3-4
Being pliable in the hands of the Lord takes submission to the Lord,
sometimes it takes submission to others to honor God.
It takes humility, as at times, we need to be remolded, made anew.
Sometimes it can feel like our whole world is being crushed.
It can be painful. God can take away people that are not good for us or maybe unhealthy relationships can be removed.
We don’t know how or why He does things sometimes.
If our focus remains on Jesus, we will then have a clearer understanding of what He is doing and why He is doing.
Either way, whether we understand what He is doing or not,
following Him is key.
The Israelites had a pillar of fire by night and a cloud by day
that helped them to know where the Lord was leading them.
We have the Holy Spirit in a different way and we have the full word of God.
His leading is more individualized now in most respects.
Learning how to hear Jesus is going to take listening,
spending time with Him and learning and knowing His heart
which is written in The Bible.
Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended?
who hath gathered the wind in His fists?
who hath bound the waters in a garment?
who hath established all the ends of the earth?
what is His name, and what is His son’s name, if thou canst tell? Proverbs 30:4
As the day draws near, it is important that we have keen hearing for the truth,
for the word of God, for the leading and guiding of the Holy Spirit.
This keenness does not come without spending time with Jesus in prayer,
in His word and in fellowship with other believers.
We are not meant to be alone in our walk.
While there are no perfect people,
we are still encouraged to fellowship with the brethren.
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more,
as ye see the day approaching. Hebrews 10:25
Lay down any preconceived ideas you have and let God have His way.
Submit to Jesus and His way both in your life and in decisions you have.
Let Him remold you as needed and do your best to be pliable in His hands.
Stay replenished in Jesus, keep oil in your lamp, seek Him earnestly.
