Amazing Testimonies that will encourage your faith.
Resting on our laurels
We do it.
We all do it.
We think we have accomplished something in God or maybe without God.
We pat ourselves on the back. Others may have noticed and given us kudos.
Beware. That is foolish pride. That is a gift from the enemy.
He is always stirring up a way for us to fall out of God’s graces.
For God to clean out every last crevice in our hearts while we dwell on Earth,
this will not be possible.
That is why we can hope in His mercy and His unfailing love,
allowing Him to cleanse us with His blood and participate in the process.
That means doing our part, confessing and doing what we need to do
once He brings things to our attention.
Our part is following Him and responding to His Holy Spirit.
Jesus does His work in us and is invested in each of our lives.
We all have a mission, at least one, and purposes here on Earth.
Seek God to find out if you don’t already know.
If you already know, ask Him for help to fulfill that mission or missions.
We are not dead stones.
Remember what Jesus said about John the Baptist
when he was still walking on the Earth?
Verily I say unto you,
Among them that are born of women
there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist:
notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
Matthew 11:11
It’s very simple, any human on Earth has not been completely changed into Jesus’ holiness and is not comparable to any one who has undergone the ultimate transformation process as they leave this Earth. Even John the Baptist.
We have no victories before God.
Jesus is our victorious Savior.
We have nothing without Him and we are nothing without Him. (see John 15:5)
No laurels to rest on in God’s sight.
Paul wrote about this:
For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law;
but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh.
But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ,
by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing,
nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. Galatians 6:11-15
Back in the day, circumcision was a fleshly expression of devotion to God.
It still is for practicing Jews.
Paul is saying, it doesn’t matter what you do in the flesh,
that is not what helps you to follow Jesus.
What helps us to follow Jesus is the work He does in our lives.
That is done by our permission,
just like when they had to line up to get their foreskins cut off.
We have to allow God to do His work, but that is not any accomplishment.
That’s is what we signed up for when we chose to follow Jesus.
If you haven’t gotten there, it’s not too late.
He is ever gracious, ever compassionate, abounding in steadfast love and mercy. None of us have gotten there, but we keep reaching for that upward call,
not in our strength, but His.
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:14
