None of us will make it if we’re trying to finish this race in our own strength.
That was a lesson Peter taught us when he denied the Lord.
He was boasting, I’ll never deny You, Lord.
In humility, before the Lord, we will be facing very hard times,
and we need Jesus’ strength.
To preach the gospel in the regions beyond you,
and not to boast in another man’s line of things made ready to our hand.
But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
For not he that commendeth himself is approved,
but whom the Lord commendeth. 1 Corinthians 14:16-18
If we give ourselves credit for reaping where someone else has sown,
we are missing it. Jesus is the One who blesses anything we do.
We do not get to boast in our own works. That is detestable to God.
God gives the increase.
So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth;
but God that giveth the increase. 1 Corinthians 3:7
We are to give our all as Jesus is worthy of everything we have to give.
That should remain between each of us and God.
If we go tooting our own horn,
or even have a prideful heart before the Lord for what we have done,
we are bound to fall, as at that point, we would be exalting ourselves.
For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased;
and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. Luke 14:11
Keeping humility in the fear of the Lord is where it’s at.
If that does not resonate, see the multitude of times in scripture
what happens to those who have given themselves prestige in front of the Lord. It did not go well for them.
The worst part is that God does not recognize those who boast in themselves. Jesus will not know them.
But He shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from Me, all ye workers of iniquity. Luke 13:27
We best not boast in our own accomplishments. Let us boast in the Lord.
