I have heard people condemn others to actual Hell.
Not our place.
The word of God says what it says and we cannot change that.
God has given many indications that He judges each person individually.
That surely does not mean we can ignore things in the bible that bother us
or change any meanings.
What it means is He judges each person on their own life
and accomplishments done in obedience to Jesus.
Remember the Rich Young Ruler?
He did everything right.
God wanted more.
His failing was that he was loving mammon more than God.
Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast,
and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven:
and come and follow Me. Matthew 19:21
Not very many people got the invitation from Jesus to follow Him.
The Rich kid didn’t value that.
I wonder what ever happened to him?
And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself,
neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes,
shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given,
of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much,
of him they will ask the more. Luke 12:47-48
If you have wisdom and knowledge, you are blessed.
You also have a lot of responsibility.
The Samaritans rejected Jesus:
And they did not receive Him,
because His face was as though He would go to Jerusalem.
And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said,
Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven,
and consume them, even as Elias did?
But He turned, and rebuked them, and said,
Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.
For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.
And they went to another village. Luke 9:51-56
We do not want to call down fire on people.
Make sure you are of His spirit, seeking also to save lives.
Jesus came to offer people hope and love and forgiveness.
Jesus even gave a disclaimer:
For He saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. Romans 9:15
With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful;
with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright; Psalm 18:25
Please don’t go before the Lord and say I gave you any sort of an out.
My advice to everyone is to live your life for the Lord,
do what He has asks of you in His word
and check in with Him about how you live your own life.
Don’t feel entitled to His mercy, hope in His mercy.
Do people have to measure up in order to be counted worthy of the Lord?
While the word of God is specific about certain things,
He remains the ultimate Judge.
We must warn as the Lord directs us.
It is up to God what happens to people.
Don’t expect Him to be merciful to you with all your faults
and not be merciful to someone else.
Pray for all those someone elses you know.
Pray that the Lord will have mercy on them, and compassion,
and then, go and do the same.
