We choose all the time, sometimes every hour or more than.
Choose Jesus.
Choose His life, His words, His Truth as He is the Truth.
Let not your mind be swayed by seemingly good ideas, things that soothe.
The Truth does not always soothe.
The Truth can be something we do not like.
The Truth can be uncomfortable to our flesh.
It is a choice to follow Jesus and it is a choice to let His word be above all else.
2 Thessalonians 2 talks about loving the truth
and that if we do not, God will send a strong delusion.
A strong delusion to believe what is false and not be saved.
That’s a big package.
Loving the Truth means giving Truth the honor it deserves,
which is high above all other thoughts and notions.
Casting down imaginations,
and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God,
and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
2 Corinthians 10:5
When we choose the Truth, sometimes we will offend and alienate others,
even our family and friends.
Most people do not want to follow the Truth fully and completely,
so if you do, you will offend others at times.
Jesus warned us about this:
If the world hate you, ye know that it hated Me before it hated you.
If ye were of the world, the world would love his own:
but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
Remember the word that I said unto you,
The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted Me,
they will also persecute you; if they have kept My saying,
they will keep yours also.
But all these things will they do unto you for My name’s sake,
because they know not Him that sent Me.
If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin:
but now they have no cloke for their sin.
He that hateth Me hateth My Father also. John 15:18-23
Those are tough words to swallow.
Loving the Truth is not for the faint-hearted.
Loving the Truth is for those who want to follow Jesus no matter what the cost, not for those who have not chosen to walk with Him fully.
It is oftentimes a choice between fearing God
or wanting to please humans, which can include yourself.
What does that mean in your life?
That is between you and God how far you take it,
how much you stand up for Truth and for His Word.
Nobody else can tell you. No human. Jesus only.
The Holy Spirit is there to give you strength to follow Jesus completely.
It’s up to each of us to seek Him, ask Him and to receive what He has given us.
