The Replacement Theory believers think that the Jews
have been removed from God’s kingdom
and that Christians are now the spiritual Jews.
Some Christians like to think they have replaced the Jews.
Some of their arguments are that the Jews have rejected Jesus
or even that they killed Jesus.
Jesus prayed for them while He was on the cross:
Father forgive them for they know not what they do.
Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.
And they parted His raiment, and cast lots. Luke 23:34
Humans do not get to decide upon whom God has mercy.
Our hearts should be pliable. Vengeance belongs to the Lord.
We cannot call down fire from heaven on people.
That is displeasing to the Lord.
Now it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up,
that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem,
and sent messengers before His face.
And as they went, they entered a village of the Samaritans,
to prepare for Him. But they did not receive Him,
because His face was set for the journey to Jerusalem.
And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said,
“Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down
from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?”
But He turned and rebuked them, and said,
“You do not know what manner of spirit you are of.
For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.”
And they went to another village. Luke 9:51-56
The promises God gave to the Jewish people
through His servants Abraham and King David and many of the prophets
are both of spiritual and natural significance.
We are adopted children. We are not the natural branches of the Kingdom.
Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root,
but the root thee. Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off,
that I might be graffed in.
Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith.
Be not highminded, but fear:
For if God spared not the natural branches,
take heed lest he also spare not thee.
Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God:
on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness,
if thou continue in His goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in:
for God is able to graff them in again.
For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature,
and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree:
how much more shall these, which be the natural branches,
be graffed into their own olive tree? Romans 11:18-24
Just like always, we need to have a little humility.
In this case, a lot of humility.
We are not going to get before God’s throne and demand that He let us in.
Jesus already described that scene:
Not every one that saith unto Me,
Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven;
but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in heaven.
Many will say to Me in that day,
Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Thy name?
and in Thy name have cast out devils? and in Thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you:
depart from Me, ye that work iniquity. Matthew 7:21-23
Paul, by the power of the Holy Spirit, described it best:
God is able to graft the natural branches in again.
Be careful. Be humble and fear the Lord.
Oh, and love your enemies, even if they are the Jews.
