As always, commentary is human. It is insight into the Word of God from a human perspective, hopefully, one who is hearing from the Holy Spirit.
It is not the be all end all, it is not the only way to see God’s word.
God’s Word is infinite. We are ever-learning from it as we grow in our spirit man and put aside the flesh.
The Word of God is rich and bountiful and the way God teaches us of Himself. There are no restrictions and may He teach you what He wants you to know as you read His Word.
Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil
he disputed about the body of Moses,
durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said,
The Lord rebuke thee. v 9
Even Michael the archangel did not fight with the devil,
but the remembered the battle belongs to the Lord.
But these speak evil of those things which they know not:
but what they know naturally, as brute beasts,
in those things they corrupt themselves. v 10
They speak evil of the things of God because they do not understand them.
They value earthly things and feelings more than the Word of God.
Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain,
and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward,
and perished in the gainsaying of Core. v 11
The way of Cain means doing their own thing.
Cain was rejected of the Lord because he gave God what he wanted to,
rather than giving God what He asked.
They wanted the reward of Balaam,
which were the things that satisfied their flesh.
Core rebelled against Moses who was a symbol of Christ in the Old Testament, rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, see 1 Samuel 15:23.
These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you,
feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water,
carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth,
without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; v 12
We know Jesus is the vine and His followers are the branches.
With Him, we bear fruit, without Him, we can bear nothing.
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in Me, and I in him,
the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without Me ye can do nothing. John 15:5
We will not bear any fruit here unto eternity without Him.
Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame;
wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever. v 13
The emptiness of the flesh.
Those who seek after their own lusts
and disregard God and His ways in the futility of their minds
will not be spending their eternity with the Lord Jesus,
as we make our choices here on Earth.
And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying,
Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of His saints, v 14
Enoch lived a long time ago and there were wicked persons on Earth
when he was here, which was before the flood.
Enoch was Noah’s great grandfather,
which tells us how long ago this prophecy was spoken.
The Lord will come with ten thousands of His saints,
when Jesus comes to Judge the world and deal with the evil ones.
To execute judgment upon all,
and to convince all that are ungodly among them
of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed,
and of all their hard speeches
which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him. v 15
Oh, to be those who speak against the Lord and His ways
and think their opinions might stand.
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Living God. Hebrews 10:31
These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts;
and their mouth speaketh great swelling words,
having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage. v 16
We have seen those who have chosen to speak against God’s laws,
to create their own laws
and relish in their own righteousness that they have created.
Woe unto them.
But, beloved, remember ye the words
which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; v 17
How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time,
who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. v 18
We have been warned of all the wickedness we see. We have been told before.
We kind of expected this because God’s word tells us
that many will depart from the faith,
that many will follow doctrines of demons and many other abominable acts.
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times
some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits,
and doctrines of devils; 1 Timothy 4:1
We have been warned, and now the time is here and it will get worse.
