As always, commentary is human. It is insight into the Word of God from a human perspective, hopefully, one who is hearing from the Holy Spirit.
It is not the be all end all, it is not the only way to see God’s word.
God’s Word is infinite. We are ever-learning from it as we grow in our spirit man and put aside the flesh.
The Word of God is rich and bountiful and the way God teaches us of Himself. There are no restrictions and may He teach you what He wants you to know as you read His Word.
Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James,
to them that are sanctified by God the Father,
and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called: v 1
From Jude, the brother of James, the disciple who walked with Jesus,
and to those of us who are sanctified by God the Father and preserved,
preserved from sin and the world and those who are called…
Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied. v 2
Extra mercy, extra peace, extra love, to envelope your souls and keep you unto the day when you meet God face to face and no longer walk on this Earth.
Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation,
it was needful for me to write unto you,
and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith
which was once delivered unto the saints. v 3
The faith which is there for all, that we should contend for the faith,
that is, value it, preserve it, keeping it holy and unashamed,
let faith have its rightful place in our hearts and minds,
and in the eyes of those who see our lives,
dedicated to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
For there are certain men crept in unawares,
who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men,
turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness,
and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. v 4
There still are many false teachers and Pharisees in the world today.
They do not understand God’s grace neither to give it or receive it.
This thought process is detestable to God
as He wants us to give others the grace we have received
and the forgiveness we have received.
We all will not enter Heaven on our own merits and good works,
as that is denying what Christ has done for us
and negates His sacrifice for us unto God the Father.
I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this,
how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt,
afterward destroyed them that believed not. v 5
Fair warning, that those Israelites who mocked what God had done,
even though they saw the miracles done right before them,
but chose not to worship God, fell out of favor of the God of Heaven and Earth.
That can also happen to us if we refuse what He has done for us
and choose to worship idols or turn our backs on Him.
And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation,
he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness
unto the judgment of the great day. v 6
The angels that were cast out of heaven,
who chose not to worship the One, True God,
will receive everlasting punishment and destruction on Judgment Day.
Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner,
giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh,
are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. v7
For any of us who choose fleshly desires over serving the Living God
will suffer eternal damnation.
Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion,
and speak evil of dignities. v 9
This is despising what is good, what God sees as holy,
taking His word and making it mean what you want.
Always love the truth, even if you don’t like it.
Let the truth be elevated above your thoughts as His ways are higher
and His thoughts are higher.
