Complacency

I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot:
I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm,
and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth
. Revelation 3:15-16

If God’s not first in your life, you’re complacent.
If you’re not thinking of Jesus every moment,
considering Him at each decision you face, you’re complacent.

If we get complacent with the things of God, we’re in a bad place.
There is always more of God to learn about, to grow in, to be in awe of.
People get caught up in the world and dismiss the things of the kingdom,
the very things of God.
If you’re not there, ask God to help you get there. He will.

Some people say,
Jesus is afar off, they have been saying for centuries that this is The End.
They said that in the time of Acts,
thereby mocking the Lord’s return.
And saying, Where is the promise of His coming?
for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue
as they were from the beginning of the creation
. 2 Peter 2:4

One interpretation of this scripture…
But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens,
and to eat and drink, and to be drunken
; Luke 12:45
…is that if we forget the importance of pleasing God,
and remain serving our flesh,
forgetting God’s commandments to love Him first
and to love your neighbor as yourself,
we are missing it.
If we treat others with less respect than the way God treats us,
we are missing it.

There is a warning written many times in many ways in The Bible
from the Lord to draw close to Him,
to love Him and our fellow humans,
the good ones and the bad ones.
Reminders to seek Him diligently, to put Him first.
It’s easy to get distracted with the things of this world.
Choices.
Make good ones.
Make the right ones.
Realize every moment that you are making choices to last for all eternity.

Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard,
and hold fast, and repent.
If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief,
and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee
. Revelation 3:3

Scriptural References:

The wicked, through the pride of his countenance,
will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.
Psalm 10:4

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart,
and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it,
Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Matthew 22:37-40
