But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. Matthew 23:11
Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind
let each esteem other better than themselves. Philippians 2:3
We get so caught up in this world
What it means to be successful
How we look in the eyes of others
Our reputations
Our material possessions
God sees things so differently
God looks on our hearts
God sees through all of our misgivings and failings, all of our faults
He is not impressed with our bank accounts,
our education level, where we went to school, who we know,
what we have or can call our own:
our possessions,
our friends,
our family name,
our skin color,
what neighborhood we live in,
how much our house is worth,
what kind of car we drive,
or any other attribute or trait or possession that can impress other humans
God just looks on our heart
But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance,
or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him:
for the Lord seeth not as man seeth;
for man looketh on the outward appearance,
but the Lord looketh on the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7
God sees the important aspects of who we are
How we treat others,
How much importance we put in obeying His commandments:
loving Him and loving our neighbor
What we decide each time we have a decision
Who we glorify, who or what we worship
and if we count others better than ourselves and are a good servant
We are always trying to do things our way, the way we think is best
All glory and honor belongs to
The King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus, The Messiah
To lift Him up for all to see is the best we can do,
to make our lives meaningful and to fulfill our purpose,
to count others better than ourselves,
to remember to serve is the greatest opportunity we have,
Serving our Lord is best, and remembering:
whatever we have done for the least of these, we have done for the Lord
Scriptural References:
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you,
Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren,
ye have done it unto me.
Matthew 25:40
And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
John 12:32
