Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
‘Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
Verse 3 of Amazing Grace by John Newton
We have those times in our lives when we are feeling like we are needing the protection of the Lord Jesus.
Like the tumultuous storm the disciples had to endure and then realize they needed to call upon Him.
Part of living on this Earth is we will encounter various trials and tribulations.
These things I have spoken unto you, that in Me ye might have peace.
In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33
God says what He means and He means what He says.
He spoke to us that in Him we might have peace.
Where is peace?
In Him.
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee. Isaiah 26:3
Jesus is the God of comfort.
Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies,
and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation,
that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble,
by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
As we learn His comfort. not only do we benefit,
but we can also share that with others who also need comforting.
We all need comfort. This place is wretched sometimes. Keeping focus on the Lord will give us comfort.
The Holy Spirit is our comforter, after all.
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in My name,
He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
John 14:26
God has given us many exhortations in His word that will help us and give us faith.
The whole message of the 3rd verse of Amazing Grace is reminding us that He has already done miracles
and helped us through many experiences and we can still trust that He will do so again as we continue our journey.
Think back, remember what He has already done.
Read His word. The miracles in His word will remind us that He has been faithful
and He will continue to be faithful to each of us.
