Darkness and Light

The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness. Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light.
Luke 11:34-36

If the light that be in thee is darkness how great is that darkness?
Light and darkness contrast in the spiritual world
You may not be able to see the battle going on in the natural world
and then again, you may if the Lord gives you discernment and insight

But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! Matthew 6:23 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12

The spiritual light shines in the spiritual darkness
The darkness cannot stand the light
The darkness cannot comprehend the light (John 1:5)

I the Lord form light and create darkness (Isaiah 45:7)

We all know the bugs scatter when they are exposed to the light
this is a really good metaphor of what happens in the spiritual
When you’re cleaning your garden or even your house,
you find things you may not see if you’re not looking
dust bunnies, or spiders or other surprises

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. Ephesians 5:11

Jesus wants our light to shine before men
How can we be used to shine His light more brilliantly?

Many answers to this question
These and many more may come to mind
The light must be pure
If it is muted and not pure, it will not do its job
like a lighthouse for ships to know they are close to the shore
and to protect them from getting holes in them that would cause damage
and cause them to sink
The light shines less brightly if our windows are dirty,
perhaps sin not repented of
The light will be muted
If there is darkness in our hearts,
that can hinder the light

The light from within us is from Jesus and His word,
what He has taught us,
shown us
Our ability to love Him
and our ability to love others,
To love our enemies
Forgive those who have harmed us
Whether intentional or not

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16

In other words, we are Jesus’ representatives here on earth.
He said: And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
John 12:32

It is said that if were to see God in our flesh, we would die (2 Thessalonians 2:8)
He is pure light
Until we have our glorified bodies, after death or at His coming,
in our flesh, we will only be able to radiate so much light,
but let us not hinder that light

There are times people who walk in darkness
may not be able to tolerate His light in us
Jesus warned us of that
That light makes them hate us
They might not even know why
The darkness hates the light

For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. John 3:20 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. John 15:18

This light can come out by speaking His word,
standing up for righteousness,
doing something in obedience to Him
Let your deeds glorify your Father who is in Heaven
As time goes on and darkness increases in our world,
We will be hated more for what He has given us
If they hated me they will hate you also
If you notice these things,
do not be surprised
and remember you have been told this will happen by our Lord and Savior

He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. Revelation 22:11-12

even so, Amen
