God is very intentional.
There is nothing He does that does not have purpose.
We can look at the history in the Bible
and people do not find the value in certain parts of the Bible.
Or the purpose that certain stories are in the bible.
Dig deeper.
Ask the Lord to teach you why something is in there.
There is a meaning and a purpose to all of His written word.
Think of it as buried treasure.
I was writing about Mercy yesterday.
Most people do not realize the Ark of the Covenant had a Mercy seat.
What did that represent?
Who sits on the Mercy Seat? Is it God only?
Is it an example for us to follow? Or are we to remember that God actually has a Mercy seat? Does He sit on that to judge sometimes?
When Paul was struck by blindness at the time Jesus was revealed to him,
why blindness? What was God teaching him?
He was humbling Paul before Him, what else was Jesus showing him?
There may be many more answers.
Studying the word of God without God is pointless.
You might see some things that are revealed to you, but the parables,
the secrets of Heaven are revealed by the Holy Spirit.
Even though some are or have been revealed to persons in ancient times, that does not mean there is nothing new for God to reveal to you.
His word is alive.
It is living, breathing, living water, cleansing our innermost parts.
Jonah is one of the most interesting prophets to me.
He was afraid to speak out thinking he might look like a fool,
that his words might not come true once he spoke them.
Well, that’s exactly what happened.
His job was not to predict the future, his job was to be obedient to the Lord and to speak what the Lord commanded.
He did and the people repented and Jonah didn’t like that.
God called him on it. And, God never apologized to Jonah.
There are many such deep lessons in the word of God. They are endless.
God’s word is multifaceted and full of great riches that we will never understand with a fleshly mind,
thinking on or figuring out doctrine man’s way.
The parables were the way Jesus chose to teach those who followed Him
and to hide those teachings from those who rejected Him:
Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not;
and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith,
By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand;
and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing,
and their eyes they have closed;
lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears,
and should understand with their heart, and should be converted,
and I should heal them.
But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
Matthew 13:13-16
The treasure of the word of God is not given to everyone.
With a humble heart, ask the Holy Spirit to teach you. He will.
Otherwise, it will all be foolishness, as it is to some.
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness;
but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18
