Disappointing Jesus

People come into our lives for a purpose
Jesus will say to some on the last day to some
You have done this unto the least of these, you have done it unto Me

I saw a lady the other day when I was coming out of a store
She was dishoveled, unkempt, had a grocery cart filled with this and that,
her home on wheels
She approached me, not speaking clearly, she had a faint smile
I looked at her, then ignored her
What happened to the love of God I was supposed to let flow?
And because iniquity shall abound,
the love of many shall wax cold
.  Matthew 24:12
Not feeling charitable at the moment,
bothered by all the people who roam the streets and she was one of them

I thought about her at the moment
I knew I wasn’t doing what Jesus would do
He would have at the very least found out what she wanted
and addressed that somehow

What if she is one of the least of these?
What if the Lord will say to me, you treated Me like this?
And He later reminded me of this instance where I could’ve shared a little kindness, maybe even the gospel?

Who was that lady and what did she want?
There are so many people like her wandering the streets
We can become numb, our love can grow cold,
we can be ignoring what the Holy Spirit might be asking of us

Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself,
but shall not be heard. Proverbs 21:13

Gulp! How long until we all might be in this situation?

I live in a smaller town
When I lived in a bigger city,
sometimes I gave to the Christian charities that helped these people
and, honestly, it wasn’t often
I would tell people who approached me to go to get help from the charities
Most often, for their own reasons, they refuse help from the charities,
but at least the option was there
That option to point them to someone can help them is not here
Nobody pays any attention to these people,
they want them to go away and get clean from drugs or fix their own minds,
and stop living on the street, some of them have issues we cannot fully understand but God understands
and He has the wisdom to give us to use to address each one we meet
We just need to ask and listen

Remember when Jesus said go into the highways and byways
and compel them to come in that My house may be filled?
Tell the gospel to whomever will listen, no matter what they look like,
no matter what kind of car they drive,
even if their wheels are a grocery basket full of their life’s possessions
Jesus cares about each soul and we should, too
What if you have a family member in such a predicament?
Let us all realize that Jesus is concerned with each soul,
no matter their faults and their outward appearance

You don’t want to give directly to them?
That is between you and God, but consider being kind, like I was not,
consider letting God’s love reach them, somehow,
through us, in case Jesus might say:
And the King shall answer and say unto them,
Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it
unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto Me.
And the King shall answer and say unto them,
Verily I say unto you,

Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these My brethren,
ye have done it unto Me. Matthew 25:40

Maybe one day I can be like the Good Samaritan?

Scriptural References:

Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper,
and bade many: And sent his servant at supper time
to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.
And they all with one consent began to make excuse.
The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground,
and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.
And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them:
I pray thee have me excused.
And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.
So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things.
Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant,
Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city,
and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt,
and the blind.
And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded,
and yet there is room.
And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges,
and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
For I say unto you,
That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.
Luke 14:16-24
