I heard that sentence once from the Holy Spirit
And I’ve never forgotten it
It was many years ago
It was about a friend of mine when I was younger
who had entangled herself in an adulterous affair
She was committing adultery
She was having sex with a married man
I was a new Christian and was interested in the drama,
so I would let her tell me this or that
That was when I heard the admonition from the Lord,
Do not comfort her in her sin
I stopped asking
She knew it was wrong, so I didn’t need to tell her
A lady tweeted something that came across my feed
She was involved in sin
Do we decide what is sin? You and I?
Not even
Sin is written in God’s word
He has made it very clear what He considers sin
We cannot change God’s word
There were many who were trying to change God’s word on her tweet,
trying to comfort her in her sin
I sent her this tweet:
“No matter what the situation, if we place ourselves above God’s word,
our souls are in danger.”
She blocked me
She can block me all she wants,
but we cannot place ourselves, neither our sin, above God’s word
We cannot call what is bad good and good bad:
Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil;
that put darkness for light, and light for darkness;
that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Isaiah 5:20
Be careful never to comfort anyone in their sin
That does not help the Kingdom and it does not please God
Woe unto the world because of offences!
for it must needs be that offences come;
but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh! Matthew 18:7
As always, lift Jesus up and keep His word elevated
Seek wisdom from His Holy Spirit and never excuse sin on God’s behalf
