Jesus said, If your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off.
And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee:
for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish,
and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. Matthew 5:30
Cut off the sources.
That is a metaphor of cutting off things that would entice us.
Not letting those thoughts control us, but taking control of them.
Those places we go, those people that are bad influences, things we watch or read
that might cause us to think sinful thoughts.
That could mean anything that is not helping us to keep our focus holy.
If we engage in lustful thinking, worldly thinking, if we entertain those thoughts that are against God,
we are not following Christ.
Renewing of your mind.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2
You can’t just go about your life and expect God to follow along. God is not compatible with sin.
He will not partake in it, so if you choose to engage in sin, no matter what it is,
you are walking away from God for that time. And it will affect you until you repent and seek the cleansing of His blood to become pure in His sight. Fellowship with God does not include sin.
Get those thoughts forgiven, under the blood. Those thoughts that feed the desires of your flesh.
What you focus on or allow into your mind will come out of your heart.
Just like all things, we cannot do this apart from Jesus Christ.
He is there to help us, to wash our feet, to make us and keep us pure.
Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet.
Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with Me. John 13:8
Did you hear what Jesus said? If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with Me.
We should never be ashamed of bringing our sins or misgivings to Jesus.
That’s why He died and rose again and purchased our redemption.
That takes humility, to let Him cleanse us. Be humble. Accept your lack of ability to do this on your own.
Our part is repenting and letting Him cleanse us and keep asking for His strength.
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Philippians 2:5
Trying to walk in this world amongst all the evil
and not letting our garments get soiled is a constant battle.
Keep marching toward the upward call:
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14
Amen and Amen.
