Do Not Hide Your Faith

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel,
but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works,
and glorify your Father which is in heaven
. Matthew 5:14-16

In Berlin, Germany, it has been reported that an elected official
is telling Jews to keep their faith quiet, to hide it.
There have been reports of violence toward Jews
and even before this latest conflict,
there have been instances of Jews being insulted and spat upon.
Now they are telling Jews to hide their faith.
No.
Trying to appease the enemy will only work for so long.
It will give them more power and control.

For whosoever shall be ashamed of Me and of My words,
of him shall the Son of man be ashamed,
when He shall come in His own glory,
and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels.
Luke 9:26

So, because the Jews have not accepted Jesus as the Messiah,
does that mean we do not stand up for them?
We always should stand for what is right.
God wants us to love justice.
He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good;
and what doth the Lord require of thee,
but to do justly, and to love mercy,
and to walk humbly with thy God
? Micah 6:8
God loves justice.
He hates a false balance.

If there is even a twinge of hatred or superiority in our heart,
toward our fellow humans, we need to repent.
Let God rule and reign as the ultimate Judge.
Jesus commands us to love, even when it is difficult.
Extend kindness and compassion, even as Jesus did.
But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for He is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Luke 6:35
Jesus was kind to the unthankful and to the evil.

We risk our love growing cold as the days go on.
Allowing God to do His work in our hearts and to love is our choice.
What is faith without love? What is the gospel without love?
What good are we as Christians without love?

Paul loved those jail guards who whipped him.
Let us be more like Paul who loved those who were cruel to him.

Loving our enemies is a commandment of Jesus.
Jesus didn’t soften it and say, ‘love if you feel like it’,
He didn’t say, ‘love if they don’t bother you’.
Jesus plainly said, Love your enemies.
He will give us the strength to do that, the grace, the mercy
that would allow us to have His love in our hearts and forgive
from the bottom of our hearts, even toward those who are mean to us.

No matter what they do, do not hide your faith.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ:
for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth;
to the Jew first, and also to the Greek
. Romans 1:16
