Quench not the Spirit. 1 Thessalonians 5:19
How do we do that?
Refusing His work in your life.
Refusing to listen.
Refusing to obey.
Going your own way when you know it’s not pleasing to God.
Refusing the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Refusing to honor Him when He is using another person.
Not letting Him have the most important part of your life.
This is all between each of us and God.
This is a command of the Lord and we want to keep His commands.
Quench not the Spirit.
Despise not prophesyings. 1 Thessalonians 5:20
It can be easy to refuse God, to push Him aside, to walk away, to ignore, to not give Him your respect.
It takes humility to let the Holy Spirit rule and reign in our lives in all things.
Putting Him above our lofty thoughts.
Obeying Him and walking with Him. Doing the things we don’t feel like doing.
The spirit is willing, the flesh is weak.
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation:
the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Matthew 26:41
Refuse God, like Jonah, He may seek you out. He also may let you have your own way.
His Holy Spirit will lead us into all truth, if we let Him.
Do we really want to forgo the truth?
Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth:
for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak:
and He will shew you things to come. John 16:13
Walking with Jesus can be difficult. His Holy Spirit will be there with you, all along the way.
He will bless you and help you to find the importance of His Spirit if you are not there yet.
He loves to teach and has an abundance of forgiveness to those who desire it.
He also has more strength than any of us will ever need.
