People do take God for granted.
You hear them, they speak of Him irreverently, like He is not important.
Like He is dutifully supposed to help them when they ask.
God has made many promises, that does not mean we are entitled to them.
Each promise in the word of God, in the Holy Bible,
are given for specific reasons and purposes.
Some were given to prophets of old, some were given to the disciples,
some to the apostles.
For all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him Amen,
unto the glory of God by us.
Now He which stablisheth us with you in Christ,
and hath anointed us, is God;
Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
2 Corinthians 1:20-23
God chooses which gifts to give us and when to give them.
He does works within us and in our lives
as we live and breathe on planet Earth.
Those are His works.
We cannot just take what we want from God without God.
We cannot just decide which gifts and promises are ours without Him.
In other words, we cannot leave God out.
Jesus is attached to all of those bestowments and promises.
Each one was placed in His word intentionally.
For us to have an entitled attitude is not pleasing to God.
They are honors that we may or may not receive.
All things are by Him and for Him.
For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities,
or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him:
And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist. Colossians 1:16-17
Taking God for granted or demanding from Him is not reverent.
He is the One who gives bestowments and faith to us that we can hold them.
They remain His.
They are not considered ours without Him.
We don’t push Jesus out of the way and take charge.
They are not from a promise written down excluding Him.
Each honor He shares with us is ultimately considered His.
And let us not exclude Him from what He has given us,
otherwise, we are walking without Jesus and who wants to do that?
Remain humble, even when considering the gifts and promises of God.
It is not lacking faith to consider God with a humble heart.
It is respectful and shows honor and glory to our King of Kings, Jesus.
He has many gifts to give each of us and let us not demand them.
What God gives is precious and most valuable.
Let us receive them with gratitude and with the fear of God,
knowing they ultimately belong to Him.
He is the giver of those gifts and the keeper of the promises.
