It is hard not to seek the favor of humans
We are to seek God’s favor
Once we start looking to man for approval, for appreciation, for favor,
we will miss our true calling
We must be careful not to give any person the authority over us,
to be concerned with what they think
Instead, look to God, He is our rewarder
and He will give us the favor with the people He chooses for His purposes
Jacob and Esau
Jacob had favor with his mom and with God
Esau had favor with his dad
Moses had favor with Pharaoh’s daughter, but not with Pharaoh himself
Joseph did not have favor with his brothers
He had favor with his father and then eventually with Pharaoh
Esther was given favor with the man
in charge of the preparing virgins for the King,
then King Ahasuerus favored Esther and made her Queen
Countless times biblical characters had the favor of God
and often not with men
And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature,
and in favour with God and man. Luke 2:52
Even Jesus was given favor with humans for a time, but not with all
As we know, he was betrayed by one human and others voted to Crucify Him
Sometimes the Apostles were loved, other times, hated
They were to be above reproach, which we should all strive for:
Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord,
but also in the sight of men. 2 Corinthians 8:21
This is much different than seeking the favor of man
For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh,
Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up,
that I might shew My power in thee,
and that My name might be declared throughout all the earth.
Therefore hath He mercy on whom He will have mercy,
and whom He will He hardeneth. Romans 9:17-18
Everything you do, do unto the Lord Jesus
Seeking the favor of men instead of God will limit your ability to serve Him
With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: Ephesians 6:7
