Do not take God for granted.
A lot of people do.
They do not seek Him or seek to learn His ways.
They have it all figured out.
They think if they live a good life, help people and do good deeds,
they will meet Jesus at the end and they’ll enter Heaven.
Some think they are strong enough in what they believe and they cannot be shaken.
Those people do not see the storm coming.
We will all need to be nestled in the shadow of His wings and pray that we will endure.
Taking God for granted is a haughty attitude.
When we get before the Lord, we are at His mercy.
We cannot demand mercy.
We cannot tell Him how things are.
For He saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth,
but of God that sheweth mercy. Romans 9:15-16
In other words, it is not anything we do, but God’s mercy.
Can we demand God be merciful to us?
That is where haughtiness is.
There are some people who will try to plead with Christ Jesus proclaiming their efforts.
Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Thy name?
and in Thy name have cast out devils? and in Thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them,
I never knew you: depart from Me, ye that work iniquity. Matthew 7:22-23
Where was God’s mercy for those people?
Be mindful of your expectations and always fear the Lord.
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction,
and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way,
which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Matthew 7:13-14
Come before Jesus in humility.
He will give you rest. He will lighten your load.
He will teach you what you need to know.
Learn more about Him.
Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart:
and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30
