(A Song of degrees.) Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O Lord. Psalm 130:1
If we want company in our misery, the bible is full of persons before us who have suffered,
and some have suffered greatly.
Just to name a few:
Jonah stuck in the belly of a whale 3 days after he tried to run from God.
Job lost all that he had and he was stripped of all of his comforts.
Leah who was never loved by her husband.
Abel who died because he did the right thing. The first martyr recorded.
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego who were thrown into a fiery furnace for refusing to bow to idols.
David who was anointed King long before the ruling King who tried to kill him multiple times died.
John the Baptist who was thrown in prison and if that wasn’t enough, they beheaded him.
Bad times are part of living on this Earth.
Jesus warned us many times and in many ways we would come up against difficult circumstances:
These things I have spoken unto you, that in Me ye might have peace.
In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33
Hearing about suffering and going through it are two different things.
The Holy Spirit is our comforter.
The devil likes to chime in and tell us we did something wrong.
That is not always the case. Or even if it is, God is still there for us at just a cry out to Him, even in silence.
And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?
which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken Me? Mark 15:34
