Many years ago, I had a dream. This dream is still vivid in my mind. Its lesson was imprinted on my mind and heart. This is the dream:
I was walking along. I noticed there were several hills on my way. Some I would have to walk around to keep going on the path. There were many people who had gone to the hills. Some were sitting together, some were by themselves. As I looked closer, I could see the hills were mountains of worms.
Some of the people were eating these worms from the hills. They were gorging on the worms. They were filling their mouths with them, some of the worms could be seen crawling out of their mouths. They were putting the worms on their bodies, in their hair and rubbing them on their arms. It was disgusting.
As I stopped to see this sight, the worms started to crawl on my legs and I had to keep pushing them off. I noticed that if I kept moving, kept walking, the worms would not stay on me, they couldn’t hold on. I also noticed it didn’t work if I stood there and tried to push them off, they’d keep crawling on my legs. The only way to be free of these worms was to keep moving, not to get caught up in these mountains of gossip. The Lord showed me that is how He sees gossip.
Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out:
so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.
As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire;
so is a contentious man to kindle strife.
The words of a talebearer are as wounds,
and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly. Proverbs 26:20-22
