Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread?
and your labour for that which satisfieth not?
hearken diligently unto Me, and eat ye that which is good,
and let your soul delight itself in fatness. Isaiah 55:2
Jesus said several times, He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
He spoke that to all who were included in the conversation
when the Pharisees were criticizing the disciples
for not washing their hands in the ceremonial way before they ate.
Jesus said it is not what goes into a man that defiles a man,
but what comes out of him
How can that be?
Maybe because there are many morsels in the world to feast on
Many things to fill our minds with
Those things make it to our heart if we entertain them
and they are bound to come out at some point
And He said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.
Mark 7:20
We have a filter
What we allow to become a part of us, to dwell in us, to think on,
that is what it means when He said what comes out of a man defiles a man,
because those things that have been allowed to grow in us,
those things we have adopted as our own
are the things that come out of us
And when He had called all the people unto him, He said unto them,
Hearken unto Me every one of you, and understand:
There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him:
but the things which come out of him,
those are they that defile the man.
If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
And when He was entered into the house from the people,
His disciples asked him concerning the parable.
And He saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also?
Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth
into the man, it cannot defile him;
Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly,
and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?
And He said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.
For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
All these evil things come from within, and defile the man. Mark 7:14-23
Eat the bread of life and drink the Living water
Think on the lovely things of God
Purging quickly those things which are foul and unclean
