Thus saith the Lord, The heaven is My throne, and the earth is My footstool: where is the house that ye build unto Me? and where is the place of My rest?
For all those things hath Mine hand made,
and all those things have been, saith the Lord:
but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit,
and trembleth at My word. Isaiah 66:1-2
What stands out to me on those two scriptures are
that the Earth is God’s footstool
We do not get elevated to His throne,
we are at His footstool while we are here
In a spiritual sense, we may be elevated to His throne at times,
but we dwell where His feet are, on Earth
If that is humbling, that is not a bad thing
Stay humble just like it says in the next scripture
He looks to the one who is poor and of a contrite spirit
and the one who trembles at His word, in other words,
the one who has the fear of God inside of him, the one who realizes Who God is
Without humility and fear toward God, we are not in our rightful position
We are elevating ourselves to an entitlement status
But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room;
that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee,
Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship
in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee. Luke 14:10
Take a lower seat
Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king,
and stand not in the place of great men:
For better it is that it be said unto thee,
Come up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower
in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen. Proverbs 25:6-7
If one is elevated in God’s presence, He might just disregard you
The parable of The Pharisee and The Tax Gatherer is one to consider
And He spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves
that they were righteous, and despised others:
two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee,
and the other a publican.
The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself,
God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
And the publican, standing afar off,
would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other:
for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased;
and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. Luke 18:9-14
Approaching God with entitlement is offensive to Him
He is looking for a contrite heart and one who fears Him
Those who demand rights to God or benefits they deserve might not fare so well as behaving with an entitled attitude without humility
is not what God is looking for
Faith? Faith rests in Jesus and His abilities, not our rights
Humility before God is a beautiful part of servitude toward Him
It is once we are able to be humble before Him that He will recognize us
and His scepter will beckon us to Him
And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased;
and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted. Matthew 23:12
