When I was a little girl, my mom would get so frustrated with me.
Though this did not happen every day, it was often enough,
when it was time to get dressed, she would say, choose something to wear.
“I can’t find anything to wear.”
What do you mean? Look at your closet, it is full of clothes.
“I don’t want to wear any of them.”
I sound like I was a spoiled child,
but the dresses were my mom’s choice for what I should wear.
I didn’t get any choices at the store.
She bought things she wanted me to wear.
A lot of them were scratchy and uncomfortable.
We were actually very poor. I don’t know where she got those clothes.
So, this morning, I cannot think of anything to write.
I was reminded of the little girl I once was with a closet full of clothes.
While it is similar, it is very different as God’s word is full of treasures.
The Bible is full of stories and lessons and characters and teachings
of what God has done.
I read James a few minutes ago
and I was reminded how to bridle my tongue
and how the Lord is coming soon
and the rich in the things of this world will be repaid for what they have done.
When I was first a Christian, I would just open the bible
and read wherever I landed.
I realized then that the Whole, Entire Bible is God.
It was powerful no matter where I read. I knew He was in His word.
I have a court appearance today for work.
I’m not nervous per se, but it does cause a bit of stress
because I do not know exactly what the judge is going to ask
and I have to be ready for all the questions I can think of.
With that stress, I get a bit of a block sometimes
or sometimes with my writing or sometimes with other things.
God never makes me feel bad because I can’t find anything to write about.
He understands and He always helps me in whatever situation I end up in.
Knowing Jesus is there is the main point of the writing today.
He is so big and so gigantic,
bigger than the oceans and the seas
and the Heavens and the Earth and the Sun
and all the stars and constellations and He made Orion’s Belt
and the Big Dipper and the Little Dipper, and yet, He is there for me.
Jesus is always there whatever I am striving for, whatever I need help in
and whatever it is I am asking Him for.
He never fails me.
He doesn’t make me feel dumb or worthless or spoiled.
He just helps me.
He just lifts me up and carries me when needed and keeps me functioning when I don’t have the capacity to do so.
Jesus is there for all of us in the same way.
We sometimes just have to let Him love us even when we are unlovable.
It is the goodness of God that leads us to repentance
and in His goodness, we want to be more like Him
knowing we can’t be anything without Him.
Jesus was kind to the unthankful and the sinners.
He is near to us to help us, to heal us,
to make us better citizens of His Kingdom as we dwell in this world.
We don’t have to be perfect.
He has a way of making up for our deficits.
That is what makes us perfect,
when we surrender and His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
Go enjoy your day knowing He is the One who gives us what we need in Him.
Scriptural References:
Or despisest thou the riches of His goodness
and forbearance and longsuffering;
not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
Romans 2:4
But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again;
and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest:
for He is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.
Luke 6:35
And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee:
for My strength is made perfect in weakness.
Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities,
that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2 Corinthians 12:9
