And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake:
but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. Mark 13:13
Jesus warned us that we would be hated
Jesus warned us that some of us would be killed
Jesus warned us that some would betray us
The time to those things is very close
Expect it
It will happen
For reasons you may not understand in the natural
If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
If ye were of the world, the world would love his own:
but because ye are not of the world,
but I have chosen you out of the world,
therefore the world hateth you.
Remember the word that I said unto you,
The servant is not greater than his lord.
If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you;
if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake,
because they know not him that sent me.
If I had not come and spoken unto them,
they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin.
He that hateth me hateth my Father also. John 15:18-22
The world may not be consciously aware of why it hates you
We reflect Jesus, Jesus reminds them of their sinful condition
Even those in the church become enraged at times
they might minimize sin, refuse to acknowledge it,
be angry when reminded of it,
or believe they can continue to sin as a sort of freedom
Paul said he did that which he hated
We are the same, but keep in mind that God sees our efforts,
our intents and He knows if we are trying or if we are taking Him for granted
Then began he to upbraid [rebuke] the cities
wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:
Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee,
Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you,
had been done in Tyre and Sidon,
they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon
at the day of judgment, than for you.
And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven,
shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works,
which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom,
it would have remained until this day.
But I say unto you,
That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment,
than for thee. Matthew 11:20-24
We know what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah,
fire and brimstone destroyed the city
Tyre was destroyed
God sent enemies against them
and put them literally under water
God was extremely angry because they refused to repent
And, we in this time, have the Holy Spirit bearing witness of Jesus
We have records of His amazing works and His death and resurrection
The people who refuse Jesus are going to have a tough time on Judgment Day
And ye shall be betrayed both by parents,
and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends;
and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake. Luke 21:16-17
