My flesh trembleth for fear of Thee; and I am afraid of Thy judgments.
Psalm 119:120
The fear of God is impossible without an acceptance of Who God is
Acceptance of God takes humility
Humility before God takes a searching of Who He is
Searching of Who He is takes dedication toward Him
None of that can happen if we resist His call on our life
because when we resist God, we are resisting His Holy Spirit
who is present on Earth and He draws all men to Himself
If they refuse and continue their own way,
they can become numb to His prompting and His call on their lives
and numb to God, which means they will not gain the fear of God
Each of us has been created for God’s purpose
It is up to each of us to find out what that means
We have to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling
God looks to those who tremble at His word
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom
Demanding or pleading for God to give us grace
is not going to accomplish much
Don’t ever get tricked into thinking God owes you grace
God is gracious on His terms
That also falls in line with humility and fearing and trembling before God
Fear ye not Me? saith the Lord: will ye not tremble at My presence,
which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves,
yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it? Jeremiah 5:22
Unless we realize how big God is, how much power He has,
we cannot realize how small and insignificant we are
The King of all Kings and the Lord of all Lords
is looking for those whose hearts honor His magnificence
Once we lose the fear of God, we have lost our way
We also will not be considered by God without reverent fear and humility
Jesus is looking for those who tremble at His presence,
whose hearts are pure toward Him
For all those things hath Mine hand made,
and all those things have been, saith the Lord:
but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at My word. Isaiah 66:2
The demons believe and tremble
Although, they chose not to humble themselves before God
They were cast away from God’s presence
Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well:
the devils also believe, and tremble. James 2:19
It is not enough to believe, it is even not enough to tremble before God,
we must also have a poor and contrite spirit, realizing our insignificance,
that we are but dust, flesh and bones and without Him we are nothing
For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth. 2 Corinthians 13:8
This is because nothing we do in this world, apart from Jesus,
means anything at all
We will be rewarded for those things we do for God
If we do them for any other purpose or to glorify any one else,
including ourselves, those deeds are meaningless in Eternity
That thought is difficult for many
as they have their treasures on this earth and within themselves
They are not content with emptying themselves before the Lord
and leaving all they have and are on this earth to follow Him
Sometimes giving up the flesh is not easy,
giving up all the things we know and love
That is what Jesus requires of us
And He said to them all, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. Luke 9:23
