We’ve all felt that.
Some people don’t have security, so they feel left out more than others.
It’s a sad feeling, when you feel you don’t belong, anywhere.
Some people try to help, to include those who feel that way.
It doesn’t always change the way they feel.
Depending on their life’s circumstances, the amount of love they received as a child,
the number of solid or lack of solid relationships they have had during their life,
even their inability to maintain solid relationships.
It’s easier to love those who are easy to love
and more difficult to love those who are not.
For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye?
do not even the publicans the same? Matthew 5:46
The widows and the orphans, those who are not so lovely.
Jesus wants us to reach out to them.
Jesus wants us to consider them Him.
If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar:
for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen,
how can he love God whom he hath not seen? 1 John 4:20
The bible clearly defines religion as those who care for the orphans and the widows.
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this,
To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction,
and to keep himself unspotted from the world. James 1:27
In Ezekiel, He shared this about Sodom’s list of offenses before the Lord:
Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread,
and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters,
neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
And they were haughty, and committed abomination before Me:
therefore I took them away as I saw good. Ezekiel 16:49-50
That gives us a glimpse of how the Lord wants us to come out of our selfishness
and care for the poor and needy.
To teat others like we would treat Him if He were in our lives
and to love our neighbors as ourselves.
With all things, God leads us.
Maybe it’s not wisdom to invite someone into your home.
Give them a ride to the dinner, take them a bag of groceries,
donate to those who put on the dinners or those who offer shelter,
whatever way the Lord leads you, listen and obey.
Keep your heart warm and do not let your love grow cold.
Try to hear God’s heart toward people and let His love shine through you.
