Fleshly Love

Fleshly love is hard to shake;
Its grip is tight
and it does not easily let go
It captures and binds;
like a python,
who constricts,
until the life of its victim is gone.
It may take time
You won’t see it at first
You won’t feel it either
You will even feel pleasure
Once in a while you may be
pierced by its fangs
depending on the severity of your condition,
you may not even notice at first,
the downward spiral
and that your mind and heart
have become tangled with this beast.
While you’re gasping for air,
While you still have breath,
Cry out to God Who can mightily bring this creature to let go.
Your opportunity is near and sure and true.
The vice will be loosened and
it is up to you to seek freedom
from the Lord and His word
