What we feast on will be what we follow.
There are some teachers of the gospel who lay out a huge buffet.
They write books, conduct interviews, draw crowds, bring many delicacies for people to gorge on.
These persons take the word of God and use it to prove their point
so much so that those who follow them are led astray and gain the perspectives of the men they follow.
This is not what Jesus meant when He said, Take up your cross and follow Me.
He never told us to follow a man or to follow man’s theology.
On the contrary, He instructed us to be taught by the Holy Spirit and said,
He will guide you into all truth.
Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth:
for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak:
and He will shew you things to come. John 16:13
Truth is where it’s at. If you are a follower of Jesus, you must love the truth,
if not, a deception will be sent to you so that you will believe a lie.
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish;
because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
2 Thessalonians 2:10-12
Having pleasure in unrighteousness seems wicked. Deception is truth with error.
Deception always has a mixture of truth so as to seem good.
Jesus warned us that many would be deceived. That some will even perform signs and wonders.
The Egyptian Magicians did counterfeit miracles.
The Antichrist will perform miracles that will lead many astray.
And he doeth great wonders,
so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth
by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast;
saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast,
which had the wound by a sword, and did live. Revelation 13:13-14
How can we know the difference between signs and wonders and mracles?
Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Matthew 7:16
The main question to ask is: Is Jesus glorified?
Jesus had a term for those whose doctrine was from men. Pharisees.
That’s how the leaders of the law got so mixed up when Jesus was walking on the Earth.
They developed their own theology and followed that. Jesus broke that mold.
And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. John 8:32
Many times the teachers of the law tried to tell Jesus what was truth.
The problem for them is that Jesus is the truth even when He walked on Earth as a man.
They were deceived by their own doctrine that they had created.
Jesus would challenge them and they got more angry
and eventually they had Jesus killed to try to stop the truth.
Have you ever tried to help someone who is deceived?
Some of them have such a strong delusion that they cling to their doctrine.
The word has become of none effect to them.
Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered:
and many such like things do ye. Mark 7:13
Guard yourself from following men, no matter how great their teachings are.
Deceivers have wicked spirits attached to them, even if they use bible verses.
There are many false teachings in the church even today.
Responding to the Holy Spirit and asking Jesus for wisdom as you read His word will help you
if you choose to love the truth.
