Frontlets are an adornment worn on the forehead, between the eyes.
And it shall be for a token upon thine hand, and for frontlets between thine eyes: for by strength of hand the Lord brought us forth out of Egypt.
Exodus 13:16
They were reminders of God’s precepts and Statutes. Jewish men even today may wear small boxes called phylactery to remind them to keep the law.
The Lord God encouraged His people to remind themselves always of His Commandments and gave them instruction of how important it is to keep His word and remember its importance:
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. Deuteronomy 6:4-9
While you can wear them, the thought is that it is important to keep the precepts and the word of the Lord at the forefront of our minds, realizing the importance of His word in our lives all the time.
How we do that is up to us, but we must find a way if we are to live for Christ.
The bible gives us many ideas but this is nowhere near a complete list:
Participate in fellowship with other believers
Read His word
Meditate on His precepts
Pray
Fast
Have faith
Believe
Forgive
Let not the sun go down on your wrath
Fulfillment of the Law: And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. Luke 10:27
The Frontlets are symbolical of keeping His will and His word important to us
it is easy to get distracted, to forget and get immersed into the world’s cares, troubles and events.
Keep us close to You, O Lord, and remind us of Your ways always,
In Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.
