There are lots of metaphors in the Word of God
Manna is one of them
God sent the Israelites Manna each day
They were to gather enough to feed themselves and their families
And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna:
for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them,
This is the bread which the Lord hath given you to eat.
This is the thing which the Lord hath commanded,
Gather of it every man according to his eating, an omer for every man,
according to the number of your persons;
take ye every man for them which are in his tents.
And the children of Israel did so, and gathered, some more, some less.
And when they did mete it with an omer,
he that gathered much had nothing over,
and he that gathered little had no lack;
they gathered every man according to his eating.
And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till the morning.
Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses;
but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank:
and Moses was wroth with them.
And they gathered it every morning, every man according to his eating:
and when the sun waxed hot, it melted.
And it came to pass, that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one man:
and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses. Exodus 16:15-22
It goes along with a portion of the Lord’s Prayer:
Give us this day our daily bread. Matthew 6:11
Jesus is the Bread of Life
I am that bread of life.
Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven:
if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever:
and the bread that I will give is My flesh,
which I will give for the life of the world. John 6:48-51
Jesus is the Bread of Life
By partaking of Him as the Bread of Life, we proclaim His death until He comes
Jesus is also the Word
So, the Word is our Bread of Life
Ezekiel ate a scroll
Did he really eat a scroll?
He really ate a spiritual scroll
Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll,
and go speak unto the house of Israel. Ezekiel 3:1
John the Revelator ate a book:
And I went unto the angel, and said unto him,
Give me the little book.
And he said unto me,
Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter,
but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey. Revelation 10:9
Jeremiah talked of eating the Word of God:
Thy words were found, and I did eat them;
and thy Word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart:
for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts. Jeremiah 15:16
So, His Word is precious, Manna, The Bread of Life, the Holy Bible, whatever you want to call it, it is to become a part of us
When we consume it, paying close attention to its contents, that Word becomes a part of us, engrafted into our souls
Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness,
and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. James 1:21
Meditate on it, breathe it, let it fill you up in all the empty places
and, gather your own Manna
Learning from others is okay,
but we all need freshness from His Word to usward
